DogDollars started the way a lot of small software does — out of sheer frustration. Our founder ran a dog-walking route in Toronto and spent most evenings juggling a clipboard, a Google Calendar that kept double-booking, a Square reader that never wanted to sync, and a spreadsheet that only she could decipher. There had to be a better way, and the big-name scheduling tools were either aimed at enterprise salons or cost more than the business made in a quiet week.
So we started sketching. Then building. Then walking dogs in the morning and shipping features in the evening. Early customers were friends with routes of their own who’d put up with the rough edges in exchange for something that actually matched how the work gets done — recurring schedules, GPS check-ins, quick notes, tidy invoices, and nothing that requires a manual.
